ZRound race manager
Starting ZRound
ZRound setup installs shortcuts on Windows ZRound program group and your desktop. You can create/edit shortcuts to add these extra settings.
Parameter | Features |
---|---|
-practice | Autostart application. You can add a shorcut with the -practice parameter to your login startup profile in order to automatically start ZRound whent the system boots up. Party races. You don't need to register racers and results are not saved to the championship manager. Just enjoy a run with the racer's registered on the practice session. |
-debug | It adds extra info to the log console. Only needed if the support team ask you to do it in order to capture extra details to investigate issues. |
When application is started, an information box shows the boot-up progress information
Main window
Main look like this at startup.
There are several section to work with options, races, data, etc.
As you can have several copies installed and/or use different databases, at startup, you can see the database and settings paths used on the console
1. Tool bar
Here you will find these buttons to work with ZRound

Clear race and racers information. It is a simple way to “reset” application to start from scratch witout restart the application | |
Open a race configuration file with racers to be registered. You don't need to use this type of files as championship manager will do it for you. However, you could be use it for special purposes or custom races where you want to setup runs manually. | |
Save the current race settings and racers registered to a race configuration file you could use later to start or recover information. If race is started from championship manager you will save the results to the race database. | |

3.1 Race mode
Setting | Function |
---|---|
Qualifying | Qualify mode. Laps: Max. number of laps. Tie break by less total time Best time: Best lap time. See Best lap Qualifying options |
Start | Start mode: Staggered: racers have their own clock. It starts on the first detection Le Mans: All racers have the same clock. Extra settings are shown for start mode fine tunning |
Initialize after first finishing line pass | Clock starts counting when the first car is detected (not when the countdown stops) |
Count first detection | If enabled, first detection will count as lap 1. Otherwise, lapcount will start on 0 |
Best lap Qualifying options
Option | Description |
---|---|
Laps | Number of best laps to compute the “best lap” time. For example, you can use the 2 best lap times to be considered in order to compute the best racer |
Consecutive | If laps is greather than 1, you can define if the n-best laps must be consecutives |
Algorithm | You can choose if you want compute sum or average in order to show the “best lap time” |
3.2 Duration
Setting | Function |
---|---|
Time | Race duration expressed in time units (hour,minuts, seconds) |
Laps | Race duration expressed in number of laps to be completted). There are fine tuning options for lap duration mode |
Complete all laps | When duration is “Laps”, this options controls whether racer must complete all laps or the run stops when the first racer complete the lap count |
3.3 Start/Finish settings
Settings | Function |
---|---|
Countdown time | Time to wait for the race to be started. Example: 10 → (10, 9, 8, … 1, go) |
Speaker | Countdown will be read out |
Call to start | If Speaker is enabled, seconds before start to begin read out Example: 3 ( . . . . 3 2 1 go) |
Random call to start | Even choosing a call to start number of seconds, you could want to do it randomly. If enabled, call to start will be random within the call to start number of seconds. |
Time beteween cars | Pause time between racers stat on staggered start mode |
Min. lap time | Lap times under this value will be ignored. A special sound can be configured to distinguish this event and it will be dumped to the log console |
Time to finish | Extra time given to racers to complete their last lap once race duration is over |
4. Racers
List of registered racers. Available actions on the registered racers view:

Column order | You can change the columns order by drag and drop |
Column width | You can change the column width by dragging the header margin as you do in a spreadsheet |
List sort | You can set the sort criteria by clicking the column header you want |
Racers options | Open the context menu (right click) to open the racer's registration options |
5. Log Console
Console shows events fired by the application and lapcounters. It will dump configuration changes, start/stop race events, lapcounter events (connect, disconnect, lap detection, etc.)
The context menu (right click) offers these options:

Copy | Copy the log content to the windows clipboard |
Save as… | Save the log content to a text file |
Info / About
Info button display version information and CopyRight.
There are two actions available
- Extra debug Checkbox. It activates the extra debug information messages on ZRound Console. It only affects the current session, it's cleared if you restart ZRound unless you use the -debug command line setting
- Helpdesk report button. It ask you to save a report (.zip file) with system/zround/logs/database information. It can be claimed from helpdesk support if you aks for help to zround support team.
