Exporting and sharing data

All ZRound data are stored under the “Datos” folder. The location depends on your operating system and your preferences during the installation process. If you are not sure where it is, just open the championship manager and see the windows title bar

Information Elements

There are two kinds of information elements:

  • ZRound database (zround.mdb).
  • ZRound race files/folders (collection of log, race configuration and auxiliary files). They are not indespensable files but helps to debug issues during the race and upload information to results site. The auxiliary files can be regenerated but it's simplest to include them into your backup to have an exact copy of your installation without further operations.
  • Application settings (language, lapcounter, events sounds, speech, …) are defined into zround.ini configuration file. It's a good practice to save these stuff into a directory under your “datos” folder so they would be backed-up with your regular copies. You should make a backup of your zround.ini file as well

Full backup/restore

The easy way to make a full backup is to make a zip file of ZRound public folder.

InstallationO.S.Path
DefaultXPc:\program files\zround
DefaultVista/W7/w8/W10C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZRound
Custom-Path selected during installation

Just unzip the archives on the original location to have the system restored.

Export/Import options

Export

You can share your data for different purposes:

  • Get a copy of your results in order to upload files at home.
  • Sharing championship data with other users. It's a common practice in championship managed by different clubs where a race is managed by each club. A common database is used to share racers registrations and results.

ZRound Manager includes option to share championship and races.

:!: Exporting championships or races will do a full database backup accompanied by auxiliary files of the championship/race. You cannot merge your results and import data on you existing database, when you restore a backup all your data will be replaced by the backup data being restored.
  • Export races. When you managed a race and want to upload results at home, after terminating the race use the “File/Export race …” menu option.

  • Export championships. If you want to export a full championship details, open the championship and use the “File/Export championship …” menu option.

You will be asked to confirm the .zip backup filename with a default value accoring the championship/race.

Import

Once you have your backup from source computer by using ZRound export options, it is time to restore the information on destination computer.

  • Use the “File/Import database” option.

  • You will be asked for the .zip filename generated with Export race/championship option on the source computer.
  • Once selected, the backup will be restored and all data will be available on your computer
:!: IMPORTANT: When you import an exported championship/race, it really restore a full database backup and all your data will be replaced by the backup files.
