Is it possible to configure the software so it i want to have a race that ends after lets say 10 laps, and i want all cars to drive all 10 laps even those who are 2-3 laps behind. If not its a function i would recommend.

You can setup the race duration in two ways:

-Time: The race is stopped when the racer reach the time value configured. It takes into account the "max. time to complete the last lap".

-Laps: The race is stopped then the racer reach the laps value configured (see the image below, a race configured for a 10 laps race)

The race duration and qualifying mode can be different in heats and mains. This depends on your competition rules.

The other think you have to consider is the starting mode. If the race duration is X Laps the following rules are applied:

1) Staggered start mode: Each racer has his own clock, his lap counter is reseted to 0 when he is detected for the first time. He must complete the X Laps. The heat sort will be done on the total time used to complete the X Laps or his best lap time depending on the qualifying mode (vueltas=laps; mejor tiempo=best lap time).

2) Le Mans start mode: The race starts after the countdown (or when the first car is detected if the "initialize after first finishing line pass" option is checked in ZRound). When there is a car which reach the X Laps, any other will be finished after his next detection. The winner will have X laps, the second place will have X (or less) laps and a little more time and so on.

You can mix the race duration / start mode / qualifying mode as you want.

Finally, the previous screenshot is taken from ZRound Championship Manager but you can change this also in ZRound if you want to configure the free trainings in the same way as the competition rules. You can see the option "Duration", qualifying mode and start mode here:

I hope this helps. Regards,

Jesús.

It helps but not all the way, i want a lemans start. When the first car comes to lets say 10 laps and he wins, but if there are one ore more driver on 8 or less laps i want them to drive all 10 laps. I understand this is not possible without staggered mode. I want the same feature like in F1 racing. all start together and all has to finish all laps even the slow ones.

maybe this can be added in the future. thanks for a superb software.

In real F1 racing is used Le Mans start (the same clock for all cars) and duration in laps (with a time limit to prevent large races on wet or difficult race conditions). The black and white checkered racing flag is shown when the first car reaches the total Laps and then the flag is shown to every car which reachs the finishing line, it doesn't matter if it has completed the total lap count or not. I can't figure out why a racer must continue running after the winner has gone.

I use to configure F1 class races by setting heats duration to 10mins (sort by best lap time) and then I configure the mains duration by Laps.

This could be the results using Le Mans / 10 Laps main:

You can see here here the F1 Grand Prix de Monaco, please pay attention in the total laps and you will see that Timo Glock only completed 77 Laps by Jenson Button did 78 (there are more examples).

If all racer must complete the 10 laps as you propose, the winner must wait until all racers complete the laps and the race results will be the same lap count (10) and different total times, something like this:

I think the first option is the right choice. Anyway, may be you prefer your way letting all cars to complete the 10 laps.

If I haven't convinced you, may be I add the feature in future releases. I don't want to bore you but I really think you are wrong. ;)))

Kind regards,

Jesús

Indoors with the 1:18 cars my suggestion is that we use lemans and the race ends when the first car finishes. But we also races with boats in our RC club and there we race under national(international) rules, according to the rules in the qualifying laps all boats has to finish their 6 laps, and in the finals all boats has to finish their 8 laps. We race in the Swedish championship league. My RC club also stands as host for one of these races. This is why i think this is so important for our club, so we can arrange Club championships and also have training competitions just like the real deal.

It would be nice in the future to have this feature.

Its the truth, today during the swedish championship they count the boats manually, the reason for it because its a "beginners" class in boats and they want the boat to be not to expensive and they dont want the beginners to be forced to buy transponder for lapcounting for 80-100 euros or so. So my suggestions to them will be to use the zround software when the "all racers has to finish all laps" feature is available.

I understand. I couldn't imagine you could use ZRound for r/c boat races!!.

I add your feature request to my to-do list and I will keep you informed about this.

Jesús.

Thank you very much. When you have some time maybe you could send me the files i need to update the swedish translation.

One more question, since we will be registering the laps manually at some events, is it possible to configure the software so when the count down clock gets to zero it register automatically that "all drivers has started" "and when I press one of F1-F12 for the first time it register this as lap one and not zero.

The scenario(manual mode) i see is that when the race starts and the cars/boats finishes the first lap it should register as lap one. If this function doesn't exist at the moment, i have to press F1,F2,F3,F4 and so on to tell the software that every car/boat has started.
It might already exist but i have been exploring this software now for a few days and i have looked at so much functions etc. so I might have missed it.

Thank you again for a great software.

Regards

Kratz

You must have the ZRound update with the two new options into your mailbox. Also the languages files are installed jointly the software so you will be able to test your translation yourself.

On the other hand, in Le Mans mode all the cars have elapsed time when they are detected the first time, this doesn't change but depending on the new parameter "Count first detection" the lap will be counted or not.

I know there are too many options and configuration possibilities so let me know if you feel you are lost. Take a look to the secondary monitor option, track designer and raceplay (you can use your own picture for the r/c boat circuit). Also you can be interested in copying the data folder to your club's website to have your championship races and classification available online.

Good luck and enjoy ZRound!!

Jesus
